Sharlene qualified as a nurse in 2001, joining a newly qualified nursing rotation programme. From 2002 to 2008 she worked at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in oncology and critical care. During this time she completed a postgraduate diploma and BSc (hons) in cancer care. She then moved into cancer rehabilitation at the Royal Marsden as a Specialist Sister from 2008 to 2011. Her interest in nutrition grew during this time. She became a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Nutrition Support at the Royal Free NHS Foundation Trust from 2011 to 2018, covering both enteral and parenteral nutrition. During 2018 she moved to Kingston NHS Foundation Trust as their Clinical Nurse Specialist in Nutrition. Her role there is evolving, she is currently focusing on enteral nutrition. Sharlene enjoys the variety the role provides and having close patient contact. Sharlene became an NNNG committee member in 2018. She is looking forward to working as Treasurer for the NNNG as well as to continue to promote excellence in nutritional care.
